How the service works

1. Investigation and detention

   Once retained, Wen Zhiming can meet with the detained client in accordance with the law, establish where the person is being held, identify the measures in place, the suspected offense and the authority handling the case, and explain rights, obligations and procedure. While an arrest is under review, he can communicate with the authorities and submit reasons against approving it. Depending on the stage and circumstances, he can apply to change compulsory measures or, after an arrest, request a review of whether continued detention is necessary.

2. Prosecution review and trial defense

   Once the procuratorate begins reviewing the case for prosecution, Wen Zhiming can examine the case file in accordance with the law. He assesses whether evidence can be used, what it shows, how it fits together and whether the procedures were lawful. He prepares a written defense plan, challenges evidence at trial and makes arguments on the defense and sentencing.

3. After judgment and during sentence enforcement

   Wen Zhiming can assess whether an appeal is necessary and feasible and handle it if retained. Depending on the case, he can assist with sentence reduction or parole matters and make submissions on the sealing, seizure, freezing or disposal of property. Where the conditions are met, he can assist with applications to lift those measures.
